Mr. Mohammad Shafiq Yosufi was born in 1973 and completed his primary and secondary educations in Bakhtar High School in Mazar-e-Sharif in 1989. Following this, Mr. Yosufi graduated with a post-graduate degree from the Civil and Industrial Structures Faculty of Balkh University.

Mr. Yosufi has completed several mine action related training packages at operational and leadership levels. Subsequent to his graduation in 1997, Mr. Yosufi has worked as a site engineer within a vast number of architectural and engineering organizations. In 1997 Mr. Yosufi joined a local demining NGO: The Afghan Technical Consultants (ATC) as a site operations officer. Succeeding this, in 2002, Mr. Yosufi joined the United Nation Mine Action Centre for Afghanistan (UNMACA) as an operations assistant at the United Nation Mine Action Centre for Afghanistan (UNMACA) Regional Office in Mazar. In 2005 he was promoted and became the Area Manager of United Nation Mine Action Centre for Afghanistan (UNMACA) Regional Office in Herat. Subsequently, in 2007 Mr. Yosufi was recruited as the National Senior Operations Manager at United Nation Mine Action Centre for Afghanistan (UNMACA) headquarters.  In 2012 he worked as a Project Cycle Manager and head of United Nation Mine Action Centre for Afghanistan (UNMACA) Programme Department. Mr. Yosufi was later recruited as the director of the Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (DMAC). DMAC is a directorate of the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority which is responsible for the coordination and oversight of mine action operations across the country.

Mr. Yosufi is fluent in Dari, Pashto and English.
