Introduction:
Accreditation is the procedure by which a mine action organization is formally recognized as competent and able to plan, manage and operationally conduct mine action activities safely, effectively and efficiently. This makes sure that a mine action organization is established, staffed, equipped, and has the required systems, procedures and support structures in place prior to any work commencing in Afghanistan.
Accreditation is fundamental to the whole mine action Quality Management System (QMS). Having thorough and comprehensive accreditation procedures from the outset ensures that a demining organization is established, staffed, equipped, and has the required systems, procedures and support structures in place prior to any work commencing, therefore:
1. All mine action organizations intend to conduct mine action activities in Afghanistan shall obtain accreditation from the Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (DMAC).
2. Any mine action organizations seeking accreditation to operate in Afghanistan shall be registered with related Ministry or Government body that the laws and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan may require.
Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (DMAC) technically accredits mine action organizations to assess their ability in planning, managing and conducting mine action activities and implementation of related projects in Afghanistan safely, efficiently and effectively and in compliance with Afghanistan Mine Action Standards.
