Mohammad Shafiq Yosufi originally comes from Bagram District of Parwan Province. He was born 1973 in Gizab District of Urozgan Province. Mr. Yosufi completed his primary and secondary educations in Bakhtar High School in Mazar-e-Sharif in 1989. Mr Yosufi later was graduated with a “post graduation” degree (higher than BSc) from the Civil and Industrial Structures Faculty of Balkh University.
Mr. Yosufi has completed a number of additional training packages at both mine action operational and management levels. After graduation, from 1995 – 1997, he has worked as Site Engineers with a number of Architecture and Engineering Organizations. In 1997, he joined a local demining NGO, the Afghan Technical Consultants (ATC) as Site Operations Officer. In 2002, Mr. Yosufi joined the UNMACA as Operations Assistant at the UNMACA Regional Office in Mazar, then in 2005 he was promoted as Area Manager of UNMACA Regional Office in Herat. In 2007 he was promoted to become the National Senior Operations Manager at UNMACA headquarters and following that from 2010 to 2012, he worked as Project Cycle Manager and Head of UNMACA Programme Department. Since December 2012, Mr. Yosufi was appointed as the Director of the Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (DMAC), which is a governmental department responsible for coordination and oversight of mine action operations in the country.
He speaks Dari, Pashto and English
