The 2019 Afghanistan Donor and Implementing Partners Workshop for Mine Action was held from 25 – 28 March 2019, at Warwick hotel, Geneva-Switzerland.
This workshop was hosted by the Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (DMAC) of the State Ministry for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs, facilitated by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) and financed by Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (PM/WRA), US Department of State. This important workshop was participated by H.E. Najib Aqa Fahim State Minister for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs, donors representatives of the Mine Action Programme of Afghanistan, Directors of the MAPA Implementing Partners, Director and senior managers of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), Director of ACBAR Afghanistan and representatives of civil society. As an international gathering for resource mobilization in support of the Mine Action Programme of Afghanistan, the aim of this workshop was to raise the profile of the MAPA and draw the attention of stakeholders in particular donors to the challenges of mines and Explosive Remnants of War in Afghanistan. In this workshop, the DMAC and implementing partners presented on the achievements of the MAPA as well as briefed the participants about the MAPA’s future plans.
